Inside, the glaze has grown a dense field of blue crystals over an amber ground; where the crystals thin, the gold shows through, and at one edge the glaze runs dark and iron-brown. Crystals like these form only as the kiln cools, and no two bowls grow the same pattern. Outside, the glaze runs from warm yellow at the rim into green toward the foot, crazed and softly dripped.
Thrown and glazed by Tenis Preiss, second-generation potter of the Preiss family. The base is stamped STUDIO ESJA · TENIS PREISS · ICELAND.
Stoneware, fired to 1250 °C in oxidation.
